Cooking Masterclasses

Starting from February 2020

Josh Overington will be hosting the next series of COOKING MASTERCLASSES at Le Cochon Aveugle.

Each course will focus on a different topic, designed to be replicated at home. There are 8 available spaces per course and each will be held at Le Cochon Aveugle.

Tickets are £140 each per event (non-transferable and non-refundable).

Sunday 2nd February 2020 – Wild Game and Butchery

An introduction and exploration of the exceptional wild game common throughout Yorkshire and the UK. Students will be shown how to butcher and prepare various cuts of meat and game birds, and then use this produce to create different dishes throughout the day. The course runs from 10am to 4pm and includes a family-style meal for a tasting of the day’s produce with a glass of wine towards the end of the day.

Sunday 1st March 2020 – Perfect Sunday Roast Dinner

This course will lead you through how to cook the perfect Sunday roast dinner. All aspects of cooking and preparation will be covered, from traditional to innovative and everything in between. Students will learn to how to prepare a joint of Yorkshire’s finest beef with all the trimmings. The course runs from 10am to 4pm and includes a family-style meal for a tasting of the day’s produce with a glass of wine, towards the end of the day.

Sunday 5th April 2020 – French Classics

In this course, students will be taught a variety of quintessential French dishes as well as hone their knife skills and French cookery knowledge, drawing on Josh Overington’s classical French cookery background. The course runs from 10am to 4pm and includes a family-style meal for a tasting of the day’s produce with a glass of wine towards the end of the day.

Sunday 3rd May 2020 – Fish and Shellfish Cookery

Students will first master new knife skills before learning how to fillet and cook fish and shellfish. They will be working with some of the best produce British waters has to offer and this is a brilliant course to learn how to master the more daunting aspects of preparing whole fish and shellfish. The course runs from 10am to 4pm and includes a family-style meal for a tasting of the day’s produce with a glass of wine, towards the end of the day.

Sunday 7th June 2020 – How to Cook Vegetables

Vegetables are so often overlooked, but this course will show you how to turn a humble vegetable into the star of the show. We will be working with vegetables from the legendary Ken Holland and be preparing a multitude of dishes to demonstrate how vegetables can be just as impressive as any meat or fish dish. The course runs from 10am to 4pm and includes a family-style meal for a tasting of the day’s produce with a glass of wine, towards the end of the day.

Sunday 5th July 2020 – Pairing Food and Wine

Join chef Josh Overington and Sommelier Victoria to learn how to perfectly pair wines and food together. Students will be cooking some of Josh’s favourite dishes before Victoria challenges your tastebuds with a blind wine tasting masterclass. The course will demonstrate the incredible relationship food and wine have and build skills to help you perfect your pairing skills. The course runs from 10am to 4pm and includes a family-style meal for a tasting of the day’s produce paired with wine, towards the end of the day.
